Bodrum is probably the most internationally famed resort town own the South Aegean coastline.

Renowned for its party town ambience and bohemian life style, Bodrum is situated between Kuşadası to the North and Marmaris to the South.

It lies at the neck of a large peninsula that incorporates resort communities of Turgutreis, Bitez and Yalıkavak as well as a host of charming fishing villages such as Gümüslük.

Bodrum, known as Halikarnassus in antiquity, is historically significant in many aspects.

Located on the South eastern shore of the Bodrum Peninsula, the Bodrum town is built on twin bays seperated by the massive castle of St. Peter, the bastion of the Knights of the Order of St John for centuries.

The historians Heredotus and Dionysius were born here.

It is also home to ane of the Seven Wonders of the World, the Artemisian museum, a part of which is now in the British museum.

Unmistakable halmark of Bodrum are the white washed houses with lime façades and indigo dyed window panes.

They rise from the town’s waterfront and carpet the surrounding hills defining the regional architecture.

The Aegean feeling is complemented by the shadow of the Greek island of Kos, a not so distant backdrop on the horizon.

The best places to wine and dine

Times are over when you had to search in Bodrum for a nice place to wine and dine.

Here are some places we tried ourself.

There is a wide variety to eat delicious food. You can taste various popular cuisines here.

You'll be offered Italian, Thai, Chinese, Mexican and European cooking and Turkish food from simple meals to gourmet feasts.

But the best is if you try at least one or two typical places with Turkish cuisine.

Gümüslük
A sunken city and harbour from ancient times, coupled with a fishing village, interesting walk across the sunken city wall to Rabbit island provides a superb back drop for the restaurants that line the harbour. A true delight is watching the sun slowly sinking into the Aegean sea on a warm summers evening.

The restaurants serve traditional food with particular emphasis on Fish freshly caught.
Please note that all sea food prices should be negotiated when you order to avoid unexpectedly high bills!
And be careful when ordering wine.

Turkey has recently raised up the VAT on alcoholic drinks up to 26 %. Instead of white wine with the fish try a Raki.
